“Together”
.
It is one place or the other
So together yet so alone
Our bodies entwine as briars
Thorns bleeding in a dewy night
.
Blades of grass starved for cool water
Minds on separate paths do wind
Driftwood tossed and turned in anger
Rough and gutted by winter storms
.
It is one place or the other
So alone yet so together
Sharp briars entwine our bodies
Shackling our struggles to escape
